How To Onboard A New Sailebot®

A step-by-step guide on how to build your Sailebot.

Updated over 8 months ago

Introduction to Onboarding

Upon completing their Starboard account setup, Sailers will be prompted to provide a description of themselves and their ideal customers. This information serves as the foundation for Sailebot’s outreach strategy and will shape the next set of campaign prompts.

These details are essential for ensuring accurate targeting and engagement. However, everything remains fully customizable—Sailers can refine and adjust their inputs at any time to align with their standards and preferences.

💡 Pro-Tip: Type out your description before you paste it here to ensure you have all your fields!

Add or Review Job Titles

In this section, the Sailer can review and refine the list of contacts identified by Sailebot for engagement. This includes the ability to edit associated job titles and further refine targeting by reviewing levels and functions.

Since Sailebot excels at creating referral opportunities, a best practice is to include at least 20 diverse job titles to ensure a balanced mix of influencers and decision-makers. This approach maximizes the chances of getting the right conversation started within the target organization.

Review your Targeting Criteria

In the Targeting Criteria section, the Sailer will set values such as industries and targeting locations that the Sailebot will use to source companies and contacts. As shown below, if locations are provided, they can choose to apply the location to either the contact or the account address. As the Sailer provides more granular criteria, the green focus will adjust to clearly distinguish the data the Sailebot will use for sourcing.

💡 The more time and detail spent setting these values, the better the data your Sailebot will have to work with. You can guide your Sailebot to be as broad or narrow with the targeting as you like, based on the parameters set. Your success manager is a great resource for any questions you may have about targeting criteria.

Personalize Your Sailebot

In this section, the Sailer will name their Sailebot and have the option to add an image for its avatar. They will also have the option to further edit the avatar from the My Sailebot dashboard.

Review and Approve Companies

The Sailer will have the ability to search for companies by name, partially matched words, or even just a few letters. This process helps the Sailebot begin to identify ideal companies you would like it to prospect.

Finish Up!

Once onboarding is complete, the Sailer will receive a confirmation page acknowledging the completion of all tasks.

Missing Tasks on Checklist

If the Sailer has finished adding or editing a step but hasn’t completed all required items, they will automatically be directed to that incomplete section to finish. This ensures all necessary items are completed.

💡 After the onboarding process is closed, you'll have the opportunity to adjust targeting, content, and other tasks, such as adding companies or exclusions, within the campaign.
