How To Onboard A New Sailebot®

A step-by-step guide on how to build your Sailebot.

Updated over 3 months ago

Introduction to Onboarding

Upon completing their Starboard login, Sailers will go through a 5-step onboarding to provide the information Sailebot needs to launch. This data forms the foundation of Sailebot’s outreach strategy and guides the next set of campaign prompts.

Everything remains fully customizable—Sailers can refine their inputs at any time to ensure targeting and engagement align with their standards and preferences.

1. Complete Onboarding - Sailebot Description

Sailers will be prompted to provide a description of their role, ideal customers, industries, Statistics, and value/pain points your solution helps your clients with.

You will have two options for providing this information: either a recording or a written description.

Once you have finished the description, all sections should be checked off, and you can then move on to the 'Personalize Me' section.

💡 Pro-Tip: Recording your voice during onboarding can be used as a voice sample and as part of our Voice Notes feature.

2. Personalize Me

The 'Personalize Me' section is strictly for personalization, and this information will only be visible in Starboard.

🗒️ Quick Note: Add a picture of yourself so our team can connect the name to the face!

3. Review your Targeting Criteria

In the Targeting Criteria section, the Sailer will set values such as industries and targeting locations that the Sailebot will use to source companies and contacts. As shown below, if locations are provided, they can choose to apply the location to either the contact or the account address. As the Sailer provides more granular criteria, the green focus will adjust to clearly distinguish the data the Sailebot will use for sourcing.

Add territory criteria if applicable, including country, region, and city, or leave 'Global' selected.

💡 Pro-Tip: Selecting 'Use Location for Contacts' will prioritize contact locations, while 'Use Location for Companies' will focus on the location of company registrations.

If applicable, select an annual revenue range and/or company size.

4. Add or Review Job Titles Keywords

In this section, the Sailer can review and refine the list of contacts identified by Sailebot for engagement. This includes the ability to edit associated job title keywords and further refine targeting by reviewing levels and functions.

Since Sailebot excels at creating referral opportunities, a best practice is to include at least 20 diverse job titles to ensure a balanced mix of influencers and decision-makers. This approach maximizes the chances of getting the right conversation started within the target organization.

💡 Pro-Tip: The more time and detail spent setting these values, the better the data your Sailebot will have to work with. You can guide your Sailebot to be as broad or narrow with the targeting as you like, based on the parameters set. Your success manager is a great resource for any questions you may have about targeting criteria.

5. Content

In this section, you can edit pre-generated content based on the previous steps. Sailebot can create a 4–6 email sequence. During onboarding, all six emails will be displayed, but you can adjust the sequence afterward. To include a merge field, simply type '{' to display the merge field options.

Finish Up!

Once onboarding is complete, the Sailer will receive a confirmation page acknowledging the completion of all tasks.

💡 After the onboarding process is closed, you'll have the opportunity to adjust targeting, content, and other tasks, such as adding companies or exclusions, within the campaign.
